About me

Oh man where do I start?! Let's go to the beginning. My name is Jacob LaVine, I'm a storyteller, and I eat, sleep, and breathe all things outdoors. I grew up in rural Minnesota and acquired a passion for anything that would keep me out of the house at a very young age. Fishing, hunting, four wheeling, dirt biking... the list goes on, but there's one thing that really trumped them all. Snowmobiling!

When I was about two years old, my grandpa put me on a snowmobile for the first time. I didn't like them at first, but it didn't take me long to fall in love. Snowmobiling has given me the opportunity to meet so many amazing people and taken me on numerous adventures that have impacted my life. It made me realize that I had a passion for capturing stories that people will cherish forever.

My photography background started inherently before I ever realized it. I’ve always been the guy who's able to capture the best moments experienced with friends and family. My phone is often referred to as a “gold brick” because of the adventures I’ve documented that would’ve been forgotten otherwise. It is this fact that made me grow an appreciation for the art of storytelling through my lens.

I believe that the little things mean more. To me, pictures are one of those little things. I tell the story of the outdoors with my work to inspire other people to get outside and create a story of their own. When I'm not shooting, you'll find me one of two places. Depending on the season I'm out in the mountains doing sketchy things on my snowmobile, or back home in Minnesota on the river drinking a cold Busch Light!
